Middleton aims for medal in Feb. 28 to Match 2 tournament

The Middleton Regional High School senior boys basketball team picked up second spot in last week's Regionals for a spot in the Division 2 Provincials. As provincial host of the February 28 to March 2 tournament they already had a spot, but coach Mike Mason said it had been a goal from the start of the season to earn that spot.

It's Mason's first year as head coach and pointed out that with five returning players, all in Grade 11, and eight Grade 10 rookies, it's a young team. But he said they understand hard work and when they work hard they're usually successful. He said there are a lot of practice times booked over the next few weeks and the boys have no intention of slacking off.

Not all teams in the Provincials have been decided yet, but it is certain Central Kings and Kings Edgehill of the Western Region will be joining Middleton on the court.
