The first 100 patients have now been accepted at Oceanview Family Practice in Yarmouth for recently arrived general practitioner Dr. Kyarash Safakish.
Phone lines are now closed to accept new patients. Since the first 100 patients are already accepted, the application process scheduled for Friday, Feb. 8, is cancelled and people are asked to not call.
People will only be considered who do not currently have a primary health care provider, either a family physician or nurse practitioner, in the South West Health region of Shelburne, Digby and Yarmouth counties.
A public announcement will be made in the next few weeks when Oceanview is ready to accept the next 100 patients.
Oceanview Family Practice is gradually accepting a limited number of new patients for Dr. Safakish over a period of time. Only 100 new patients are able to be accepted at a time. Dr. Safakish will eventually accept a maximum of 1,100 patients. After the first 100 new patients are processed and seen by the doctor, additional patients will be accepted over several months.
