For the eighth consecutive season the Barrington Sea Star Ice Dogs and the Clare Lions will do battle in the Nova Scotia Junior C Hockey League playoffs.

The best of five quarter final series gets underway this weekend in Barrington, with the two teams set to tangle Friday night (Feb. 8) at 8 p.m. and at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday night (Feb. 9).

The Dogs finished up the regular season this past weekend with three losses, which didn’t impact their second place standing for the regular season.

In Liverpool on Friday night (Feb. 1) the Sea Star gang fell to the South Shore Wild 6-4. Doran Arey scored twice for the Ice Dogs with singles going to Matt Goodwin and Brydon Ryerson. Shamus Atwood turned aside 43 shots in goal.

In a matinee contest on Saturday, (Feb. 2) in Barrington, the Shannon Huskies prevailed in a 6-5 shootout. Nathan Townsend potted two goals with singles supplied by Goodwin, Robert Surette and Aaron Perry. Chad Harris was sharp in the losing effort turning aside 40 Huskies’ shots.

The Dogs and Huskies faced off again Saturday night with the Huskies edging Barrington 4-3. Ryerson, Goodwin and Tyler Goreham scored the goals with Atwood tending the pipes for the losers.
