Fire consumed a house in Bloomfield overnight.
The residents of 187 Bloomfield Road woke up around 1 a.m. and smelled smoke.
The three adults and an 8-month-old barely had time to escape from upstairs bedrooms as fire raced through the two-storey dwelling.
Brighton Barton, Plympton and Digby Fire Departments responded.
The house was fully involved when fire fighters arrived.
They poured water on the structure and then called in a mini-excavator to dig into hotspots.
Plympton firefighters ran a portable pump out of a pond in Sissiboo and tankers from all three departments hauled water to the scene continuously.
Firefighters left the scene at about 4 a.m.
The residents were renting the house and were all okay.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
