Acadia’s Axe-Elles claimed second place in the intermediate synchronized skating championships Jan. 27.

Now in its second year, the recognized Acadia synchronized skating club was edged out of first place by Newfoundland team Synergy. Coming third in their category were Feet of Flames from PEI.

The intermediate teams were competing to qualify for the 2013 Skate Canada Synchronized Skating Championships, which will be held in Calgary on Feb. 21-23. The Axe-Elles, despite the second-place finish, will still be able to go to nationals to represent Nova Scotia.
