Nova Scotia’s own furry forecaster predicted six more weeks of winter this morning.
Shubenacadie Sam left his burrow at the provincial wildlife park and saw his shadow. According to the legend, if he hadn’t seen his shadow, spring would be just around the corner.
“I saw my shadow. Embrace the winter,” Sam’s twitter account reported.
Hundreds of people were on hand to watch his ritual appearance and this year more could tune in on Sam's webcam.
Other famous groundhog prognosticators disagreed later in the morning. Wiarton Willie in Ontario and Punxsutawney Phil in Pennsylvania both predicted an early spring.
Manitoba's Winnipeg Willow has yet to have her say.
