Digby town council wants to hear it again.
Representatives from South West Health spoke to both town and district councils last month about doctor recruitment.
South West Health, the regional health authority, asked both the town and the district to set aside $60,000 for the next four years to spent on doctor incentive packages or other recruiting expenses.
The ccouncil for the Municipality of the District of Digby is set to approve the request tonight, but town council, who have less money to play with, aren’t yet ready to make a decision.
Doctor recruitment wasn’t on the agenda and didn’t come up at the town’s first council meeting of 2013 on Monday, Jan. 7.
When it finally came up Monday, Jan. 21, the town councillors had more questions than answers and voted to ask South West Health to come to a meeting tonight, Monday, Jan. 28.
Hubert d’Entremont, site manager at Digby General Hospital has agreed to attend the meeting, make the pitch one more time and answer any questions the councillors may have.
That meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. It is not an official meeting of council--no motions or votes or decisions will be made tonight.
The next regular town council meeting is Monday, Feb. 4.
