A large crowd was on hand Thursday evening at Yarmouth town hall to see Yarmouth's new town council sworn in. Mayor Pam Mood took the oath of office and then outgoing mayor Phil Mooney presented the new mayor with the chain of office.
In making the presentation, Mooney pointed out that the chain of office dates back to 1966, when Mood's grandfather, Fred Emin, was the mayor.
Among the first items of business was appointing a deputy mayor. Councillor Sandy Dennis nominated councillor Jim MacLeod. There were no other nominations and council unanimously approved his appointment.
