Lights along the Shore takes place Sept. 14-16

The Lights along the Shore festival takes place from Sept. 14 to 16, with events happening all along the shores of South West Nova.

The following events are taking place locally:

On Friday, Sept. 14 only, the Musée des acadien & centre de recherché in West Pubnico will be featuring Life at the East Pubnico Lighthouse: photos and video story telling by Rita (Amiro) d'Entremont at 1:30 p.m.

Video was narrated by Denise d'Eon of a text written by Rita (Amiro) d'Entremont, "My life at the Lower East Pubnico Lighthouse.” Free admission for the presentation.

Also on Friday at the musée, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., 35 hand-carved shore bird decoys by Richard d’Entremont will be on display. A DVD explaining his craft will be shown and tea and coffee will be served. Admission is $3. Contact (902) 762-3380.

“Living Wharves” at Killam Brothers Wharf in Yarmouth will be held on Friday as well, from 1:30 – 3 p.m. The presentation provides opportunities for visitors to connect with local residents, and learn skills and stories related to the fishing industry. Sample skills demonstrations include the hauling of a lobster trap. Contact (902) 742-8130.

On Saturday, Sept. 15, the Cape Forchu Lighthouse will offer a Picnic by the Sea, from 11a.m. - 5 p.m. Visitors can enjoy a picnic with 360 degrees of spectacular views. Menu items from the Mug Up tea room can be packed in a picnic basket, including fish chowder, cold lobster sandwich and bread pudding with drink with charges accordingly. Contact (902) 742-4522.

On Sunday, the Cape Forchu Lighthouse will be holding an Acadian-style breakfast (scrambled eggs & lobster on an English muffin, hash browns and fruit garnish, coffee and tea) from 8:30 - 11a.m. Cost is $9.95. Guests are also welcome to have lunch in the Mug Up tearoom.
