The host Horton Griffins defeated North Nova 85-73 Friday night to improve to 2-0 at the Mainland Athletic Conference basketball tournament.

The Griffins earlier defeated Parkview and now play a semifinal game at noon Saturday. A late game Friday night would determine their opponent.

The final in the six-team tournament is slated for 4 p.m.
