On July 1, 2016 while having a neighbourhood event, one of the neighbours across the street came by and stated he had called 911 for the fire department as his smoke/co2 alarm was ringing. After some 25 minutes or so the fire truck from the Brooklyn location arrived and we were told that the truck had gone to Underwood Drive, which falls under the Town of Windsor’s jurisdiction, instead of taking Underwood Road to Jared Court. Why would the Brooklyn fire unit go within the Town of Windsor limits when there was no mutual aid call? Luckily, there wasn’t a fire in progress as part of the neighbourhood could have been wiped out before the first responders arrived.
It is obvious that council isn’t receiving reports from its own stations/departments albeit this was part of the reasoning used by present day council to break away from the Windsor Fire Department.
I must also express my concerns that this council has not made public if in the event that they even know how much the planned substations for Garlands Crossing and Falmouth would cost the taxpayers. Any business would certainly have a business plan prepared in advance to present to a lender for financing; however, based on the discussions at the Sept. 13 meeting, would lead us to believe that proper planning has still not been done by this council. It seems like a “pay as you go” scenario. Furthermore, how many engineering studies were done and at what cost before council would accept their findings/recommendations?
As this present council is nearing the end of term, I am sure that the majority of the taxpayers would recommend that this whole matter be placed on hold until the new council takes office.
