William ‘Bill’ Mcneil

William ‘Bill’ Mcneil
With his sense of humour and quick wit intact, cracking one liners to the very end, Mr. William ‘Bill’ Duncan McNeil, age 69, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Humber River Hospital surrounded by his family, including beloved wife of 44 years Elizabeth, his children David (Wendy) and Jennifer (Brian). Born in Dominion, Nova Scotia in 1949, he resettled to Ontario in the early 1960’s where he met his wife-to-be. In Ontario he laid his roots and developed his love for his hometown teams the Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Argonauts. (His family always questioned his allegiance to the Leafs.) However, his heart always belonged to Cape Breton. He was a proud Canadian and an active supporter of the Canadian military. His trouble-making ways and loyalty will be lovingly remembered by his surviving siblings, Jeannette (late Alowishus), Francis ‘Francie’ (Warren), Daniel ‘Danny’ (Glenda), Anthony ‘Tony’, Terrance ‘Terry’, Kenneth ‘Louie’ (Susan), Anne-Marie (Guy) and Robert ‘Bobby’. He will also be forever remembered by his in-laws, Patricia ‘Pat’ (Warren), William ‘Bill’ (Christine) and Edward ‘Ed’; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends. He is pre-deceased by parents, Daniel and Doris, and siblings, Florence Jean, Roderick ‘Roddy’, Dorothy (Joe), Maureen (survived by Allan), John ‘Curly’ (Mary), Marie (Eric), Joseph (survived by Delphine), Theresa (Robert) and Charles ‘George’ (survived by Debra). He will be fondly remembered as a steadfast and loving husband, honourable father, an awesome brother, silly uncle, Scooby’s buddy and adoring Grampy to his three little treasures Sophia, Emily and Carlin June. In lieu of flowers, please send charitable donations to the Canadian Lung Association. Please join us in saying goodbye at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W, Toronto, between Windermere Ave. and Jane St. on Sunday March 11 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. A Mass will be held in Bill’s honour on Monday March 12, at St. James Parish, 728 Annette St., Toronto at 10:30 a.m. A reception celebrating his life will follow.
