Robert "Chetnut" Surette — Yarmouth

SURETTE, Robert Leslie “Chetnut” – age 71, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 5, 2018 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born July 3, 1946 in Yarmouth, he was a son of the late George and Rose Surette. Chetnut worked as a fisherman, having fished lobster, scallops and swordfish. He also had a passion for carpentry and was a huge Elvis fan. He is survived by a daughter, Rose Surette (Paul LePrieur), Yarmouth; grandchildren, Robert and Jordan; sisters, Kay (Edward) Robicheau, Yarmouth and Bertha Cunningham, Quebec. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by his former wife, Eliza, as well as by brothers and sisters, Julie Strugnell, Arthur Surette, Dougie Surette and Lennie Goodwin. There was no visitation by request. A private family service has taken place, interment followed in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery. Donations in memory of Chetnut may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart & Stroke Foundation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Huskilson’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth.
