It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Paul Johnston, 56, of North River/Amherst, NS. Paul passed away peacefully with family and friends by his side on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. Born in Amherst, he was a son of Marion (Vickery) Johnston of River Hebert and the late Reginald "Bud" Johnston. Paul loved anything with a motor, motorcycles, cars and boats. He was a former member of the Defender's Motorcycle Club. He was rarely seen without his dog by his side. He began his career working at Sifto Salt in Nappan for 20 years, then for a while in Fort McMurray, AB, and spent the last 10 years with LaFarge Canada out of Brookfield, NS. In addition to his mother, he will be dearly missed by his children Tyler, Calgary, AB and Lindsay (Greg McEachern), Red Deer, AB; grandchildren Reese, Addisyn and Nixon; sister Karen (Gary) Brown, Brookdale, NS; niece Danielle Brown, Ottawa, ON. He was predeceased by his soul mate Angela Murray in 2008. Arrangements have been entrusted to Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst, NS (902-667-8777) where visiting hours will be held on Sunday, March 11, 2018 from Noon until 2 pm, followed immediately at 2 pm by the funeral service, Pastor Malcolm Read officiating. Those wishing to make a donation in Paul's memory may do so to the CRHCC Palliative Care, or the charity of your choice.
