John 'Junior' MacDonald

Funeral service for the late John ‘Junior’ MacDonald, 86, Lismore, was held June 13 in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Lismore, with Father Colin MacKinnon officiating. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Mr. MacDonald died June 9, 2018, in Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born September 21, 1931, in Arisaig, Antigonish County, he was a son of the late John ‘B.’ and Mary Florence (MacEachern) MacDonald. He was a life-long member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Lismore. He served on St. Mary’s Cemetery committee and volunteered for more than 60 years with the maintenance of the heating system and parish grounds. He served with the Merigomish and District Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He was a self-employed lobster fisherman, farmer and worked for many years at Trenton Works. He enjoyed watching and listening to various news broadcasts from Newfoundland to British Columbia. He is survived by brother, Dougald R. (Sharon) MacDonald, Victoria, British Columbia; two nieces, Robin, Lisa (Mark); great-niece, Kaelyn; great-nephew, Nathan; many cousins. He was predeceased by sister, Florence Ann ‘Laura’ MacDonald.
