Funeral service for the late Jacqueline Bennett, 49, Antigonish, was held July 11 in St. Peter’s Church, Tracadie, with Father John Barry officiating, assisted by Father Paul Murphy, Father Patrick O’Neil and Deacon Art Riley. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Mrs. Bennett died July 6, 2018, in the Halifax Infirmary. Readers at the funeral Mass were Jamie Wood, Amy Delorey and June Daviau. Beth, Daniel, Toshia Lee and Amber MacPherson presented the offertory gifts. Music was provided by Ty Wallace and fiddler Iain Beaton. Altar servers were Donnie Pitts, Myles Somers and Joe DeYoung. Pallbearers were Wilfred Myette, Willard Myette, Fabian Pettipas, Roddy Bennett, Stephen Bennett and Gerard Bennett. Honorary pallbearers were Jacqueline’s cousins. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of Elizabeth Anne ‘Bessie’ and the late Maurice Francis Kelly. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy; they called her ‘Momma.’ Her kind and compassionate soul extended to all that crossed her path. She welcomed family, friends and neighbours into her home and was well known for making sure all were well fed. She lit up a room and was a special wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, who will always be remembered by many for her joy and laughter. Besides her mother, she is survived by her husband of 30 years, Troy; five children, Chad (Jamie), Bayfield; Maurice (Brittany), Gull Lake, Alta.; Jacob, Madison and Benjamin, at home; four grandchildren, Josie, Rease, Emerson, Olivia; two sisters: Cecilia (Ronnie) Delorey, Pomquet; Lee Kelly, North Grant; brother, Billy (Linda), Fort Saskatchewan, Alta; father and mother-in-law, Robert and Maureen Bennett, Antigonish; sister-in-law, June (Jerry) Daviau, Antigonish; two brothers-in-law, Matthew and Neil, both of Edmonton; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
