J. Douglas "Dougie" Surette — Yarmouth

SURETTE, J. Douglas “Dougie” – age 80, Yarmouth, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2018 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born August 19, 1937 in Yarmouth, he was a son of the late George “Georgie” and Rosie Surette. Dougie was a retired paving foreman, having worked with Northside Paving and Aberdeen Paving. He also worked as a cook aboard scallop boats for a time. He is survived by his wife, Cecilia M. (Surette) Surette, as well as by step-children, Reggie, Michael, Gary, Ricky, Shelly and Leona Goodwin; step-grandchildren, Melissa, Jason, Guy, Joseph, Keith, Matthew, Eric, Melanie, Amanda, Dylan, Ashley, Curtis, Josh and step-great grandchildren, Dyson, Guy and Adrielle. Also surviving is a brother, Robert “Chetnut” and sisters, Kay Robicheau and Bertha Surette. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by several brothers and sisters. In accordance with the family’s wishes, cremation has taken place under the care and direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. A private committal service and interment will take place at a later date at Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Yarmouth. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
