Fulton John MacDonald, age 88, Munroe Avenue Ext., passed away March 7, 2018 at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born November 4, 1929, in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Roy Kenneth MacDonald and Sarah Elizabeth “Sadie” (MacDonald) MacDonald. Fulton spent a lot of his youth growing up in New Glasgow and in Janvrins’s Island, Cape Breton. In his younger years he worked fishing and logging in Janvrin’s Island, and mined in Ontario. He was a carpenter by trade and worked most of working years for Eastern Wood Workers and Lenargo Homes. Fulton enjoyed hunting and fishing trips in the woods, ATVing and was a member of the Pictou County ATV Club. He also enjoyed wood working, watching deer in the backyard, and spending time with family. Dad was a quiet and modest man. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Mary (Arkens) MacDonald; sons, Barry Wayne (Veronica) and Kenneth Roy, both in New Glasgow; 4 grandchildren, Jenny, Amanda (George MacPhee), Michelle (Greg Slaunwhite), and Jacob (Darcy); 6 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; many nieces and nephews; close cousin Floyd MacDonald (Janvrins’ Island); sister Freda (Merle Smith), Kentville; and brother Howard (Ali), Ontario. Besides his parents, Fulton was predeceased by brothers, Samuel, Harold, John “Donald”, Emery “Sonny”, and Lawrence; and sister Elsie. Thank you to the nurses on 4th floor and ER of the Aberdeen Hospital, Dr. Jota and Dr. George, Westville and the V.O.N. for all their compassionate care at home for him. As per Dad’s wishes, there will be no service or visitation. Cremation has taken place and burial will be at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to the V.O.N. or the N.S.
