Francis Owen "Frank" Reid — Sydney Mines

Francis Owen "Frank" Reid
With regret and sorrow, we announce the passing of a dear husband and father, Sunday, September 16, 2018, at Harbour View Hospital, Sydney Mines. Frank was born in Dominion, Cape Breton on Nov. 23, 1930, to parents, Hugh and Elizabeth (MacNeil) Reid. His Air Force career took him to many places throughout the world; but, his heart was in Cape Breton and the place he loved best in Cape Breton was the old MacPhee farmhouse in Big Baddeck; which became home for Francis, Mary, and their family. No job was too big for Frank and the loss of his leg from the knee down never slowed him down. He was a man of honesty, integrity, and compassion. Frank is survived by his loving wife of 66 and a half years, Mary; four sons; two daughters; one brother; four grandsons; four granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; beloved nieces and nephews also dear sisters and brothers-in-law. Besides his parents and his parents-in-law, Mike and Elsie Corbett he was predeceased by his daughter, Bonnie Lou; six sisters; and one brother. We would like to thank all our friends for the love, support, and condolences; we appreciate all of you. A special “Thank You”to the nurses and doctors of the Harbour View Hospital, Home Care and Palliative Care for the care Frank received. A Celebration of Frank’s life will take place at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Baddeck, Friday, Sept. 21, 2018, at 2 p.m. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Sunset Funeral Co-operative, Margaree Valley.
