Francis Owen "Frank" REID
With regret and sorrow we announce the passing of a dear husband and father, Sunday, September 16, 2018 in Harbour View Hospital, Sydney Mines. Frank was born in Dominion, Cape Breton on November 23, 1930 to parents, Hugh and Elizabeth (MacNeil) Reid. His Air Force career took him to many places throughout the world, but his heart was in Cape Breton and the place he loved best in Cape Breton was the old MacPhee farm house in Big Baddeck, which became home for Francis, Mary and their family. No job was too big for Frank and the loss of his leg from the knee down never slowed him down. He was a man of honesty, integrity and compassion. Frank is survived by his loving wife of 66 and a half years, Mary; four sons; two daughters; one brother; four grandsons, four granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; beloved nieces and nephews; also dear sisters and brothers-in-law. Besides his parents and his parents-in-law, Mike and Elsie Corbett, he was predeceased by his daughter, Bonnie Lou; six sisters and one brother. We would like to thank all our friends for the love, support and condolences, we appreciate all of you. A special "thank you" to the nurses and doctors of Harbour View Hospital, Home Care and Palliative Care for the care Frank received. A Celebration of Frank's life will take place in St. Michael's Catholic Church, Baddeck, on Friday, September 21st at 2 p.m. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Sunset Funeral Co-operative, Margaree Valley.
