Christina Mae "Tina" CAMPBELL

We are sad to announce that our mother lost her recent battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully in Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Sunday, September 9, 2018. Born on February 8, 1938, in Marble Mountain, Cape Breton, to the late Kate Sarah and Stewart MacDonald. She enjoyed the love of a large and hospitable family, a trait she picked up on and demonstrated over the years she and her husband ran the general store in the Mountain, in retirement in Big Harbour Centre and in the apartment in Port Hawkesbury. Mom loved music in almost all forms (just forget opera and rap) with John Denver, John Allan Cameron, Joe MacLean and Gordon Lightfoot at the top of her chart. She loved to dance and took part in many a square set. She also had the natural ability to pick up almost any musical instrument and play. Music was in her soul. Mom loved her family and while secretly hating to cook, would often whip up three different meals to keep everyone happy. No one ever left her home hungry. She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence; sisters, Evelyn, Irene and Jessie; brothers, Allan, Donald, Doug, Gordon, and John. She is survived by her children, Bryan, David (Merriel) and Iris (Glenn) MacLean; grandchildren, Bryan and Kate; numerous nieces and nephews, and family in her heart, Angela, Silvan and Yvonne. Thanks to all the wonderful neighbours our parents had over the years, they are too numerous to list. Know that we hold you in our hearts. Thanks also to all of the special people who made her journey happen in a peaceful and dignified manner. In keeping with Mom's wishes, her body was donated to the Dalhousie Medical School. There will be no visitation or service. A tea will be held at the hall in her beloved Marble Mountain on Saturday, September 15th, from 2-4 p.m. in celebration of her life. Memorial donations may be made to L'Arche Whycocomagh. Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there; I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow, I am the sun on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there; I did not die. Mary Elizabeth Frye - 1932
