Charles ‘Bud’ Herbert Burke

Charles ‘Bud’ Herbert Burke, age 83 of Lower Sackville, passed away March 28, 2018 at the Infirmary Site of QEII Hospital, Halifax. Born in Sydney, he was the son of Charles Parnell Burke and Evelyn Gertrude (Breen) Burke. Bud worked for 20/20 Electric. He loved his music and enjoyed playing percussion at Gateway Community Church. He was a driving force in Jazz East in the 60’s and 70’s. He loved being social and sharing his knowledge, wisdom and stories with everyone. Surviving are his sons, Charles (Sophie) Burke of Belgium, David (Pam) Burke of Ontario and Jason (Shelley) Burke of Lr. Sackville; daughter, Nikki Burke (Steve) of Ontario; grandchildren, Tyler, Ty, Conner, Brady, Eryn, Robbie and Ninelle; many nieces and nephews; brothers, Wayne Burke, David (Karen) Burke, Barry Burke, and sister, Wendy (David) McPhail and Elaine (Jack) Ferris. Besides both parents, he is predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Sharon (Bert) Purcell, and sister-in-law, Doreen Burke. A celebration of life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018 in Gateway Community Church, Middle Sackville. Donations may be made to the Cobequid Foundation, Gateway Community Church or the Benevolence Fund.
