YARMOUTH, N.S. – A motorcyclist was charged with stunting after being clocked travelling more than twice the posted speed limit in Wedgeport, Yarmouth County.
According to a media release, at 6:30 p.m. on April 15, a member of Yarmouth Rural RCMP observed a motorcycle driving at a high rate of speed on Highway 334.
“The motorcycle was stopped by police for driving 128 km/h in a 60 km/h zone – 68 km/hr over the limit,” the release reads.
The 37-year-old man from Toronto, Ontario, was charged for Stunting under the Provincial Motor Vehicle Act. The fine for stunting in Nova Scotia is $2,422.50, the driver's licence was suspended immediately and the motorcycle was seized and impounded.
A charge of stunting, as opposed to speeding, kicks in when a driver is traveling 50 km or more over the posted speed limit, this newspaper was previously told by the RCMP.
