VAUGHAN, N.S. – Timothy Wells, a 56-year-old Windsor man, was reported missing on May 12, 2018 and the search continues as RCMP say they regularly receive tips on his whereabouts.
“Every day we are receiving information from the public on possible sightings of Timothy,” Cpl. Dal Hutchinson, media relations officer with the RCMP said on May 20. “I cannot confirm an exact number, however, people have been calling in with any information they might have regarding Timothy. We continue to follow-up on calls received from the public regarding these possible sightings.”
The RCMP conducted a search in the Vaughan area via a DNR helicopter on May 15, the area Wells was last seen to be traveling via bicycle.
“It did not turn up any further leads,” Hutchinson said. “Multiple back roads and the ditch along Highway 14 were part of the area search by both ground units and the helicopter.”
Wells is described as white, approximately 6-feet tall and 270 pounds. He has thinning grey hair, a scruffy beard and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue jacket with a white crest on the left side and an orange bicycle helmet.
He has a medical condition that requires medication, elevating the concern for his well-being.
“We continue to ask the public to call regarding any potential sightings of Wells,” Hutchinson said. “Any information, whether they feel (it’s) big or small, may just be the information we require to help us in locating Timothy.”
Hutchinson said the RCMP is unable to activate Ground Search and Rescue (GSAR) protocols or Police Dog Services (PDS) at this time because there is no specific last known location.
“In such cases, you need a starting point, at this stage, we don't have one,” he said. “If a call is received regarding a possible sighting in an area, a patrol is made and an area is checked.”
