Aug. 6: Burning restrictions for part of western Nova Scotia

Published on August 6, 2014

Burning brush and campfires are only allowed after 7 p.m. in Hants County today.

The Aug. 6  BurnSafe map, updated at 2 p.m., restricts fires in the province to between 2 p.m. and 8 a.m. in most parts of western Nova Scotia.

Camp and brush fires are not allowed after 8 a.m. during wildfire season. Check municipal bylaws for additional restrictions.

Today's forest fire conditions for western Nova Scotia counties are low, except for parts of Hants County where there the fire index is moderate.

The  Department of Natural Resources' fire index map is updated each afternoon and shows "the potential level of wildfire intensity should one break out."
