Updated: Prince Edward Island RCMP says two men dead, one person arrested

Prince Edward Island police report they have arrested a suspect this morning in connection with the incident Aug. 20 that left two men dead on the St. Mary's Road.

Kings District RCMP, with the P.E.I. Major Crime Unit and the Emergency Response Team, arrested the person without incident at about 7:40 a.m. in Montague.

Road blocks on Route 318 remain in effect until further notice as the investigation continues. 

No names are being released at this time, further media releases will follow as information becomes available.

Police in eastern Prince Edward Island have confirmed they are investigating a double homicide on St. Mary’s Road near Montague.

Kings District RCMP responded to a 911 call Aug. 20 around 9:15 p.m. and found two people dead inside the home.

Sgt. Leanne Butler said foul play is suspected.

"What I can tell you at this time in this dynamic, unfolding case is that tragically we're investigating the death of two individuals."

Roadblocks on both ends of Route 318 were still in place Ag. 21 to contain the investigation area and  RCMP are asking the public to stay away from the area.

A further update is expected at 9 a.m. when the RCMP hold a media briefing in Montague.
