A man carrying numerous pellet guns and dressed in camouflage was arrested in Clayton Park, HRM, this morning.

After Halifax Regional Police responded reports of someon carrying two long guns Aug. 19, the suspect came out of the woods and surrendered around 10:30 a.m.

Spokesman Const. Pierre Bourdages says the reports came in at 9:24 a.m. from two different people who say they saw the armed man.

One woman told police she saw a man in fatigues walking on the linear pathway near the end of Westridge Drive with a long gun on his back. A second call then came in of a man with two long guns on his back walking on the same path near Veronica Drive.

Police closed down Westgate Drive to traffic and there was a "large police presence" on scene, including a K-9 team.

As of 11:15 a.m., police had cleared the scene, but the investigation continues.
