Bail hearing today for Cape Breton man charged in attack of homeless man

CAPE BRETON POST - One of two people charged with obstruction of justice in connection with a brutal attack on a homeless man will be back in provincial court today for a bail hearing.

Gordon William Bobbitt, 47, of North Sydney, made a brief court appearance Friday and consented to a further remand pending a bail hearing Monday.

Another accused facing a similar charge is scheduled to have a bail hearing Thursday.

The two are among six accused charged with offences including attempted murder in relation to the July 14 attack on a homeless man.

Shawn Kurtis Jack was attacked at his homemade shelter located in woods behind the Atlantic Superstore in North Sydney. He remains in a Halifax hospital listed in serious conditions with head and other injuries.

Some of the other accused are also scheduled to make court appearances next week.
