A few Dartmouth revelers seem to have been more violent than festive on Canada Day on the waterfront.

At 9:20 p.m. July 1, Halifax Police officers found a 19-year-old who had been stabbed in the playground behind Alderney Landing. A second 19-year-old man was arrested nearby 10 minutes later and is in police custody. The alleged assailant is scheduled to be in Dartmouth court June 2.; the victim was treated in hospital and released.

Just after 10 p.m. in the same part of Dartmouth, an 18-year-old man with a gunshot wound was brought to police working at the Alderney Landing concert site. The victim was taken to hospital, treated and released.

Police say they are investigating both incidents. Anyone with information is asked to contact 490-5016. Anonymous tips can be sent to Crime Stoppers by calling toll-free 1-800-222-TIPS(8477), submitting a secure web tip at  or texting a tip - Tip 202 + your message to 274637.
