Two men are now facing charges after police say a 15-year-old girl was held against her will and sexually assaulted in the basement of a Clarence Street home in North Preston.

Police responded to a shots fired call Thursday night at 8:48 p.m. and arrested an 18-year-old man near the home. Another man was later arrested in Windsor.

Halifax RCMP say the girl had been confined in the basement for two days before she was able to escape.

The two men, both 18 and from North Preston, have been charged with trafficking in persons, sexual assault, sexual interference and unlawful confinement.

One of the men is also charged with uttering threats, procuring, use of a weapon during an assault, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public and breach of probation.

“The procuring charge is when a person is procured to become a prostitute” said RCMP Const. Tammy Lobb.

Both men are due in Dartmouth provincial court on Monday morning.

Police say they are continuing to investigate the incident.
