QUEENS – Parents looking for fun and active programs for their children will be able to learn about a wide variety of sports opportunities at the Summer Sport Registration event.

In an effort to make planning summer activities easier, the Region of Queens Municipality’s Recreation and Healthy Communities Department has connected with seven local sports groups, who will be at Queens Place Emera Centre from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. April 17 to provide information and take program registrations, says a Region of Queens media release.

The goal of the event it to make it easier for parents to find out about what’s happening this summer and make an informed decision about signing their children and youth up for summer sports. The release says parents have indicated that it is sometimes challenging to find out about what summer sports programs are taking place and to ensure the timing of the sports’ programs work with families’ schedules.

Groups that have confirmed their participation at the event include the Liverpool Tennis Club, Liverpool Baseball Club, Milton Canoe and Camera Club, Queens Archers, Milton Dambusters Swim Team, Queens County Soccer Association, and Queens County Basketball Association. The Department of Recreation and Healthy Communities’ staff will also be there to discuss program ideas, provide information about subsidy programs like Jumpstart and KidSport, as well as provide registration and session dates for Milton Centennial Pool.

The public is welcome to attend, learn more about the summer sports available in the area, and register their children and youth. For further information, the public may contact Recreation and Healthy Communities Department at 902-354-5741.
