KENTVILLE, NS – Kentville Police are asking for the public’s help in finding three men in connection with a Jan. 4 assault in Kentville they believe was targeted.

Police Inspector Darryl Brown said police were notified about the alleged assault when the victim, in his twenties, was taken to the hospital by neighbours.

The young man was allegedly assaulted and bound with tape after three men – two of whom wore masks – broke into his house on Academy Street in Kentville around 5 a.m. and stole items before fleeing the scene.

Brown said he believes the incident was targeted since one of the men police say is involved, Franklyn Dale McKay, 28, of Greenwood, is known to the victim.

The identities of the two other alleged assailants are not known, and Brown hopes the public can help them figure them out.

“We believe McKay arrived at the scene together with the other two men. They were there for a reason. Whether they knew him or not I don’t know, but they knew where they were going,” said Brown.

“It certainly, from what I see as a police officer, appeared to be a planned thing.”

The victim was treated and released from hospital Jan. 4.

Police have released photos of McKay and one of the unknown alleged assailants.

Anyone with information on their whereabouts or on the incident is asked to call Kentville Police Service at 1-902-678-3378 or CRIMESTOPPERS at 1-800-222-8477.

This incident remains under active investigation.
