WINDSOR, N.S. — The pending March 13 winter storm has caused the Town of Windsor to postpone its public information session on the proposed hockey arena.

The new meeting date is March 19 at 7 p.m. at the Hants County War Memorial Community Centre, 78 Thomas St., in Windsor.

Hants County residents are being advised to prepare for winter storm conditions starting in the afternoon of March 13 followed by heavy, wet snow, high winds, and possible blowing snow later in the day. Forecasters are predicting the snow will likely change to rain overnight.

According to Windsor West Hants REMO, strong winds are predicted for the third storm of the month.

“Very strong east to northeasterly winds gusting to 90 kilometres an hour expected tonight into Wednesday morning, with gusts to 110 km/h possible along parts of the Atlantic coast tonight,” the REMO report reads.

The wind will likely cause reduced visibility in blowing snow and could lead to power outages.

“Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break. Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds.”
