WINDSOR, NS – Two Martock men have been sentenced on charges of unlawfully possessing drugs for the purpose of trafficking, one netting federal jail time.
Brandon Wayne Armstrong, 22, and Wade Jeffery Caldwell, 27, were present in Windsor provincial court on Jan. 15. The two were charged jointly with five counts of unlawfully possessing drugs for the purpose of trafficking. The charges involved cannabis resin, cannabis, cocaine, MDA and TFMPP.
Armstrong changed his plea to guilty in October on the charge of possessing cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and the matter was adjourned to Jan. 15 to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing.
Judge Alan Tufts sentenced Armstrong to two years in custody. The court imposed a 10-year firearm prohibition against Armstrong, to take effect upon his release. Armstrong committed the offence in Hants County on March 14, 2016.
The remaining charges against Armstrong of possession for the purpose of trafficking were dismissed.
On Jan. 15, Armstrong changed his plea to guilty to a charge of failing to attend court in accordance with a promise to appear. He was sentenced to 15 days in custody, to be served concurrently. Armstrong committed the offence in Windsor on Sept. 20, 2016.
A charge of unlawfully possessing cannabis marijuana was dismissed.
Caldwell changed his pleas to guilty in October to the charges of possessing cannabis resin for the purpose of trafficking and possessing cannabis for the purpose of trafficking. The matters were adjourned to Jan. 15 to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing.
Tufts handed Caldwell a 12-month conditional sentence order on each of the two charges, to be served concurrently, and fined him a total of $400 in victim surcharges. Caldwell committed the offences in Hants County on March 14, 2016. The remaining charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking against Caldwell were dismissed.
