The accident itself happened during the evening of September 9 on Highway 101 in Marshalltown.

RCMP responded to the scene at 9:36 p.m. and found no one was injured as a result of the accident.

What they did find was that the passenger inside one of the cars, a 42-year-old woman from Bear River, allegedly assaulted the male driver beside her before the accident happened.

Cpl. Jennifer Clarke, Media Relations Officer with the RCMP, confirmed via media release that the driver and passenger did not know each other prior to this incident. The RCMP said the man had given the woman a ride.

“While driving she became agitated and began assaulting him,” said the RCMP via release.

The woman was arrested after the incident for public intoxication.

She also allegedly assaulted a police officer as she was being placed in a cell, from which the officer received minor injury.

The woman will appear in Digby Provincial Court November 14, 2017, where she will face charges of Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Assault with a Weapon, Assault causing Bodily Harm, and Assaulting a Peace Officer.

The RCMP has confirmed the investigation is ongoing.
