Charged with break and enter into bank
Travis Darrell Seyforth, 30, of Lake Paul, is facing several charges, including breaking and entering the Greenwood Scotiabank with intent to commit an indictable offence therein; willfully damaging the property of Scotiabank to a value not exceeding $5,000, willfully damaging RCMP property to a value not exceeding $5,000, two counts of uttering death threats to police officers and three counts of failing to comply with his recognizance. The recognizance charges relate to allegations of failing to comply with daily curfew, consuming alcohol and possessing a knife while committing a break and enter.
Seyforth was present in Kentville provincial court in custody on April 10. The Crown agreed to his release on a $2,000 non-cash recognizance with a surety. The matters were adjourned to May 8 for election and plea.
It’s alleged that Seyforth committed the offences in Greenwood on April 7. The charges have not been proven in court.
Custody for driving while disqualified
Craig Allen Gidney, 41, of Mink Cove, has been sentenced to jail time for driving while disqualified.
Gidney pleaded guilty to this and to a charge of failing to comply with his undertaking on Jan. 22. He was sentenced to 30 days in custody for failing to comply with his undertaking and the charge of driving while disqualified was adjourned for sentencing. Gidney was in custody on another matter on Jan. 31, when the defence requested a pre-sentence report.
On April 9, Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek sentenced Gidney to five months in custody for driving while disqualified. The court imposed a five-year driving prohibition against him.
Gidney committed the offence in North Alton on Sept. 27, 2017.
Stole property, prowled at night
Hugh Edward Eaton, 25, of Kentville, has been handed a suspended sentence with probation for stealing property valued at less than $5,000, possessing stolen property valued at less than $5,000 and prowling at night near a house.
Eaton pleaded guilty to the charges of stealing property and prowling at night on Sept. 26, 2017. The matters were adjourned to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing. Eaton pleaded guilty to possessing stolen property on April 10.
On April 10, Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek handed Eaton a suspended sentence with nine months of probation on the three charges, including $103.73 in restitution in relation to the charge of possessing stolen property.
Eaton committed the offences in Kentville on April 20 and 24, 2017.
Breathalyser offence
Jacinta States Reid, 30, of Kentville, has been fined for operating a motor vehicle while her ability to do so was impaired by alcohol or a drug.
Reid pleaded guilty to the charge on April 10. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek fined Reid a total of $1,560 and imposed a one-year driving prohibition against her.
Reid committed the offence in New Minas on Dec. 22, 2017. The legal blood alcohol limit is 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. Reid gave breathalyser readings of 150 and 150.
Breathalyser offence
Ryan Alexander Cole, 28, of Bedford, has been fined for operating a motor vehicle while his blood alcohol level exceeded the legal limit.
Cole pleaded guilty to the charge on April 10. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek fined Cole a total of $1,300 and imposed a one-year driving prohibition against him.
Cole committed the offence in Kingston on Feb. 25. The legal blood alcohol limit is 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. Cole gave breathalyser readings of 100 and 100.
Curative treatment discharge
Bradford David Denuke, 25, of Kentville, has been handed a curative treatment conditional discharge for operating a motor vehicle while his blood alcohol level exceeded the legal limit.
Denuke pleaded guilty to the charge on Sept. 26, 2017. The court imposed an 18-month driving prohibition against him and the matter was adjourned to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing.
On March 7, submissions on the curative treatment application were heard and the matter was adjourned to April 10 for a decision. On April 10, Denuke was handed a curative treatment conditional discharge with 18 months of probation, including 20 hours of community service work. Denuke was fined $100 in victim surcharges.
Denuke committed the offence in Kentville on June 9, 2017. The legal blood alcohol limit is 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. Denuke gave breathalyser readings of 290, 260 and 270.
Unlawfully produced cannabis
Daphne Amanda Cromwell, 38, of South Alton, has been handed a suspended sentence with probation for unlawfully producing cannabis marijuana.
Cromwell pleaded guilty to the charge on Jan. 16 and the matter was adjourned to April 11 to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek handed Cromwell a suspended sentence with nine months of probation. The court imposed a 10-year firearm prohibition against Cromwell and a forfeiture order was granted for offence-related items.
Cromwell committed the offence in Auburn on June 27, 2017.
Conditional discharge for assault
Kenneth Alexander Dolliver, 25, of Greenwood, has been handed a conditional discharge with probation for committing an assault.
Dolliver pleaded guilty to the charge on March 27 and the matter was adjourned to April 12 for sentencing. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek handed Dolliver a conditional discharge with nine months of probation.
Dolliver committed the offence in Greenwood on Dec. 25, 2017.
Probation offence
Jacob Benjamin Bowers, 23, of Kentville, has been fined for failing to comply with probation.
Bowers pleaded guilty to the charge on April 10. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek fined Bowers a total of $325.
Bowers committed the offence in Kentville on Feb. 24.
Undertaking offence
Justin John Cogswell, 27, of Kentville, has been fined for failing to comply with his undertaking by having communication with an individual.
Cogswell pleaded not guilty to the charge on April 10 but the matter was later recalled and Cogswell pleaded guilty. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek fined Cogswell a total of $195.
Cogswell committed the offence in Kentville on March 24.
