Suspended sentence for indecent act
Leonard Melvin Bonn, 68, of Curry’s Corner, has been handed a suspended sentence with probation for committing an indecent act, exposing his penis in the backyard of his residence in the presence of two individuals.
Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek handed Bonn, who had earlier pleaded guilty to the charge, a suspended sentence with one year of probation.
Bonn committed the offence in Curry’s Corner between Sept. 18 and 25.
Breathalyser offence
Gilbert Edward Harris, 75, of Berwick, has been fined and sentenced to probation for operating a motor vehicle while his blood alcohol level exceeded the legal limit.
Harris changed his plea to guilty on Oct. 12. The court imposed a two-year driving prohibition and the matter was adjourned to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing.
On Dec. 11, Judge Alan Tufts fined Harris a total of $2,600 and sentenced him to two years of probation, including a condition that he is not eligible for the ignition interlock program.
Harris committed the offence in Kentville on Nov. 22, 2016. The legal blood alcohol limit is 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. Harris gave breathalyser readings of 170 and 170.
Refused to provide samples
Jacob Timothy Walker-Weir, 21, of Aylesford, has been fined for refusing to comply with a demand made to him by a police officer to provide samples of his blood to determine the concentration, if any, of alcohol in his blood; and failing to comply with a condition of his undertaking to abstain from the consumption of alcohol or other intoxicating substances.
Walker-Weir changed his pleas to guilty on Dec. 11. Judge Alan Tufts fined him a total of $1,560 for refusing to provide samples and imposed a one-year driving prohibition against him. Walker-Weir was fined a total of $260 for failing to comply with his undertaking.
Walker-Weir committed the offences in North Alton on March 20. The legal blood alcohol limit is 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood.
Guilty to lesser offence of assault
Dereck Bruce Card, 64, of Kentville, has been handed a conditional discharge with probation for committing an assault.
Card pleaded not guilty in June to an original charge of sexual assault. Prior to the scheduled trial on Dec. 11, Card pleaded guilty to the lesser, included offence of assault. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek handed Card a conditional discharge with one year of probation.
Card committed the offence in New Minas on March 24.
Conditional discharge for assault
Jason Gilbert, 43, of Greenwood, has been handed a conditional discharge with probation for committing an assault.
Gilbert pleaded not guilty in July and the matter was adjourned to Nov. 7 for trial. Evidence was heard and the matter was adjourned to Dec. 11 for a decision. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek found Gilbert guilty and handed him a conditional discharge with six months of probation.
Gilbert committed the offence in Greenwood on March 25.
Leah Curley, 42, of Wolfville, has been handed a conditional discharge with probation for committing an assault.
Curley pleaded guilty to the charge in September and the matter was adjourned to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing. On Dec. 12, Judge Alan Tufts handed Curley a conditional discharge with six months of probation.
Curley committed the offence in Wolfville on July 10.
Damaged property, probation offence
Curtis Spencer Leefe, 33, of Cambridge, has been fined for wilfully damaging the property of Wolfville Court Holdings and failing to comply with probation.
Leefe pleaded guilty to the charges on Dec. 12. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek fined him $130 on each charge, for a total of $260 in fines.
Leefe committed the offences in Wolfville on Aug. 4. Three more counts of failing to comply with probation were withdrawn.
Uttered threat, probation offence
Jacob Benjamin Bowers, 22, of Kentville, has been handed a suspended sentence with probation for uttering a threat to cause bodily harm or death and failing to comply with probation.
Bowers pleaded guilty to the charges in October and the matters were adjourned to Dec. 12 to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing. Judge Alan Tufts handed Bowers a suspended sentence with 15 months of probation.
Bowers committed the offences in Kentville between Sept. 21 and 23. Two more counts of uttering threats were withdrawn on Dec. 12.
Undertaking offence
Matthew Junior Brian Baker, 24, of Mount Uniacke, has been fined for failing to comply with his undertaking by failing to comply with a condition to have no direct or indirect contact with an individual.
Baker was present in Windsor provincial court in custody on Dec. 8. He pleaded guilty to the charge and Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek fined him a total of $100.
Baker committed the offence in Garlands Crossing on Dec. 8.
