Five middle school students from the Suqian Suzhou Foreign Language School in China woke up in Bridgetown Feb. 9. They’re here to learn all things Canadian - and started things out with bacon and eggs.

Before Annapolis County Warden Timothy Habinski left on his first visit to China on Jan. 12, 2017, he had already received a gift from one of the host cities he was visiting – a long tapestry on a wooden spool. Since then, he’s signed friendship agreements with two Chinese cities and Annapolis County has hosted two visits from Chinese students. He said that’s just the beginning.

When Annapolis County Warden Timothy Habinski goes to China, they greet him as 'Han Boya' – meaning the Warrior Poet. He was overwhelmed when the Chinese gave him the name - and it’s the name by which he must introduce himself when he visits. When he does go, he's revered. In 2017, he signed friendship agreements with the cities of Suqian and Quzhou.
