Lewis Mouldings and Wood Specialties Limited in Weymouth received federal funding to increase production of their wood products.
Colin Fraser the MP for West Nova, announced on April 3, on behalf of the Honorable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities agency.
“We know that innovation is the key to business success and job growth in Canada. Companies like Lewis Mouldings & Wood Specialties Limited are the backbone of local economies. By introducing new product lines and expanding markets they are making an important contribution to their communities and to economic growth,” said Bains.
Lewis Mouldings and Wood Specialties is receiving a $430,000 repayable contribution through ACOA’s Business Development program.
This allows the company to upgrade their technology and improve the plants efficiency and safety
The Farm Credit Corporation provided $430,000 for this as well.
“Since its inception 27 years ago, Lewis Mouldings & Wood Specialties has demonstrated a commitment to the sustainable use of natural resources. This modernization demonstrates the value of thinking green, enabling the company to plan for the future and maintain its important role in the community,” said Fraser.
With the funding, Lewis Mouldings and Wood Specialties can purchase a high-speed moulder and modernize the current bricker and dust collection systems.
When the work is done, the company will be able to meet the increasing demand for their wood products.
The government of Canada and the Atlantic Provinces’ are committed to drive economic growth throughout the provinces, under the Atlantic Growth Strategy.
The strategy allows rural businesses to become modernized.
