WINDSOR, N.S. — A former fire chief with the Brooklyn Fire Department is before the courts facing a charge of sexual assault.

Andrew William McDade, of Newport, 44, stands charged with committing a sexual assault in Three Mile Plains between May 16 and June 14, 2018.

McDade, who abruptly resigned from the Brooklyn Fire Department as its chief via email on July 3, 2018, was not present in Windsor provincial court on Sept. 4. He was a longtime volunteer firefighter, holding several roles throughout his many years with the organization, and was employed as the caretaker of the station until his resignation.
