Digby incident involving man on rooftop resolved by RCMP

DIGBY, NS – A heated situation involving a man on a roof and several RCMP officers unfolded this morning on Carleton Street in downtown Digby.

Staff Sergeant and Risk Manager Steve Ettinger with the RCMP confirmed the incident was first reported at 7:14 a.m. at 12 Carleton Street.

Several RCMP officers responded.

The only details currently confirmed are that a male, suffering some kind of episode, climbed onto a rooftop with an axe on Carleton Street.

Officers were able to deescalate the situation after four hours of negotiations.

The man was taken into custody at 11:40 a.m. and the RCMP said he received treatment. The RCMP did not specify the type of treatment.

No one sustained injuries during the incident.
