PINKNEY'S POINT, YARMOUTH COUNTY, N.S. – The temperature was cold as lobster fishermen arrived at the wharf and put the final touches on their heavily loaded boats the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 28, for the start of the lobster season is southwestern Nova Scotia.
The start of the season had been delayed by one day due to forecasted winds. Normally the season gets underway the final Monday of November.
In Lobster Fishing Area (LFA) 34, which takes in all of Yarmouth County, much of Shelburne County and parts of Digby County, boats left for the fishing grounds at 6 a.m. In LFA 33, which runs along the south shore of the province, boats were permitted to leave at 7 a.m.
Here is a look at the activity at the Pinkney's Point wharf in Yarmouth County starting at around 5:15 a.m.
