BRIDGETOWN, NS - Motor vehicle collisions, wandering animals, break-ins, and numerous other calls, kept Annapolis District RCMP going full tilt during the week of Aug. 13 to 20.

During that week, Annapolis District RCMP, remembered their fallen comrades of the Fredericton Police along with the two civilians killed. Funerals were held for the two police officers on Saturday, Aug. 18 and the RCMP expresses their deepest condolences to the families that have lost loved ones from this tragic event.

August 13, 2018

A homeowner in Torbrook came outside to find a bear laying on his front lawn. The bear was not moving so he threw a stick at it. RCMP made a patrol and discovered the bear was deceased. Good thing he was, otherwise, the bear would have not been too happy to have had a stick thrown at him! DNR was contacted and it appears bear was hit by a car.

A caller reported he was almost hit while crossing on the crosswalk in Middleton. The caller described the vehicle as a brown Impala. RCMP located the vehicle and found out the driver is disqualified from driving in Canada. Several tickets were issued to the driver.

The RCMP received a call to respond to a suspicious male and female in Lawrencetown. The couple was walking along asking for money, which was not the worst part of the call. The woman had a machete. A patrol was made by RCMP and the officer found the couple. The couple was using a machete to cut down brush for their camp where they reside. The officer took them safely to their camp and warned them about appearance to the public of walking around with a machete.

August 14, 2018

A homeowner was having some surveying done on his property in Port George. He found a gun buried in the ground. RCMP made an immediate patrol and seized the gun. It was only a pellet gun but the gun’s appearance was very similar to bullet-firing variety.

RCMP received a call about gunshots fired in Deep Brook. RCMP made a patrol but it was unknown who was shooting gun. The source of the shots was not located.

A two-vehicle motor vehicle collision was reported on Highway 201 in Moschelle. RCMP along with fire and EHS quickly responded. Thankfully, no one was seriously hurt but it appears the cause of the accident was both drivers’ fault. One vehicle was parked on the wrong side of the road facing the wrong way and the second passed on a double solid line.

August 15, 2018

RCMP received a call of a break-in at a pub in Bridgetown. Nothing was taken but there was damage outside the pub on Queen Street. RCMP are requesting the public to report any suspicious people or vehicles they may have seen in the area.

Heeeee’s back! Const. Ponee received a message on face book from a concerned citizen about the wandering llama and his drama! The complainant wanted to remain anonymous to avoid any confrontations. She forwarded a picture showing the llama had snuck his way into the Lawrencetown Exhibition. Caught on camera!

RCMP received a call about a dangerous driver in Nictaux West. It was not a dangerous driver because she was speeding, she was actually doing 35 km/hr in an 80 km/hr zone. The driver was lost and trying to get home so the RCMP escorted her home safely.

In Wilmot, a caller reported kids were on their BMX bikes driving on the highway and not being safe. She honked her horn to pass them and they returned her gesture with a wave…of their middle finger!

A commercial alarm was received at a bank in Middleton which caused the RCMP to make a quick patrol. No rush was needed as the RCMP found out it was only the cleaner trying to get in and his code had been erased from the alarm.

RCMP made a patrol to Brooklyn where a cow was in the middle of the road. The cow was now on the side of the road and appeared scared. Maybe because he was a cow-herd??

A break into a garage was reported in Bridgetown. Suspects went through the garage that was unlocked and took a trail cam, four mini surveillance cameras, and a drone. The investigation is still ongoing but RCMP are requesting any member of the public with any information to contact Annapolis District RCMP.

In Springfield, a store owner reported theft of alcohol from her establishment. She said it was a mother/daughter team. Video footage was to be provided to the RCMP to continue with the investigation.
 

August 16, 2018

Caller reported a rock was thrown through his back window at his home in Nictaux. His wife noticed a rock on the floor but just threw it in the woods. It wasn’t until later that they noticed the window was broken. RCMP requesting the public if they have any info on this mischief, please contact Annapolis County RCMP.

In Middleton, a female was trying to return items to a local store. The issue was, she had stolen the items in the first place. Video footage was obtained and the investigation continuing.

A caller reported a traffic accident in Middleton that was causing a lot of confusion for other drivers. A transport truck hit a traffic light and now the traffic light was on top of the caller’s vehicle! RCMP attended and maintained traffic control until the accident could be cleared up.

There was another traffic collision on the same day in Middleton. The cause of the accident was inattentiveness by the driver of the second vehicle. The first vehicle was stopped in traffic when the second vehicle drove into him. There was minor damage to both vehicles.

August 17, 2018

RCMP executed an arrest warrant in Paradise. A suspect failed to attend court in Digby so he was arrested for Fail to Attend and a new court date was issued.

As the exhibition was winding up, people were getting rowdy, according to a complainant. Security broke up a physical fight between two parties and the RCMP was called. No names were obtained of the two fighters and a foot patrol through the exhibition grounds by RCMP members turned up negative.

August 18, 2018

Tim Horton’s in Bridgetown reported a theft on this date. Annapolis RCMP officers were relieved to hear it was not the donuts stolen! A quantity of cash was taken by an employee and investigation is still ongoing.

Complainant reports theft of her three little pigs from her Springfield home. The pigs were not located as of yet, but the investigation is ongoing.

Several vehicles were searched through in Wilmot sometime over night. RCMP is reminding residents to lock your vehicles and remove any valuables from sight in the vehicle.

Serious motor vehicle accident in South Williamston resulted in the jaws of life being used to get the driver out of the very badly damaged vehicle. The driver was sent to Halifax via life flight. His truck hydroplaned during the heavy rainstorm and went off the road into the trees.

In Bridgetown, there were more wandering animals. RCMP made a patrol in response to a complaint of 10 wandering goats. The officer felt baaaaaaaad about the goats, so he made a patrol. There were no goats to be found.

Police received a report of the theft of a dog from Raven Haven campground. The dog is an American bulldog and silver and grey in colour, 80 pounds, and wearing a pink collar. The dog will be very scared upon approach. If anyone has any information on the dog, please contact Annapolis District RCMP.

August 19, 2018

The RCMP responded to a complaint in Nictaux, of yes, more wandering animals! Several chickens and turkeys were in the middle of the road. The officer located the owner and all the birds were rounded up. We all know why the chickens crossed the road but why did the turkeys? It was to prove they weren’t chicken!

August 20

It was a weekend of wandering animals! The RCMP responded to Port George for two cows that decided to go for a walk. By the time the member got there, the cows got to where they were going and all were safe.

RCMP responded to a complaint of mischief in Lawrencetown. Caller’s car was hit with paint balls. The investigation is ongoing and anyone having any information on this incident, please contact Annapolis District RCMP.
