WEST HANTS, N.S. — The Bubba Rays restaurant in Garlands Crossing was broken into and robbed following their New Year’s Day levee celebrations early in the morning on Jan. 2, 2018.
Surveillance footage was posted on the restaurant chain’s Facebook page and staff asked for tips on who the robbers are.
Two men, wearing sweaters with hoods up, can be seen going through cash registers.
Restaurant manager Kelly Kennedy said they’ve received a lot of tips and calls since posting the videos online.
“Our employee had closed up the restaurant. We watched the cameras and within probably three minutes the two guys come in the door, they had a key,” she said.
“We have a good idea of who’s done this,” she added.
“Within three and a half minutes they had the VLT till popped open, there was about $5,500 in there,” she said. “They tried to get into the other cash too, but that didn’t get opened. They stole about five bottles of liquor.”
Nobody was inside the restaurant when they entered and nobody was harmed during the break-in, she said.
“That’s one thing, Brad the owner said —‘thank goodness nobody was here and nobody was hurt,’” she said, adding that the robbers just wanted cash.
“I’ve been in this business for 32 years and I’ve never dealt with a break-in, so it was a little upsetting,” she said.
Windsor District RCMP issued a press release indicating they are investigating a break and enter into the business on Highway 1 in Garlands Crossing.
The RCMP Forensics Identification Section is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
