MIDDLETON - Cows on the road, a high-speed pursuit, and people possibly fighting on a lawn were a few of the incidents that kept Annapolis RCMP busy from Oct. 16 to Oct. 23.
There were reports of assaults, uttering threats, fraud, accidents, and even the possibility of an animal rights protest.
Following are highlights of the week that had police answering 97 calls:

-- Oct. 16 at 12:40 p.m. at Hillsburn. Police were called to a motorcycle crash on Shore Road West. Police and EHS attended. There were no injuries and no damage to the bike. The driver said she hit some soft gravel and over-corrected but was ultimately able to get control of her bike.
-- Oct. 16 at 3:46 p.m. at Middleton. A person dropped by the Middleton RCMP detachment to turn in a gun that had been previously owned by a family member who has passed away. Police will send it to the provincial firearms officer for destruction.
-- Oct. 16 at 4:29 p.m. at Wilmot. Police were called to a domestic dispute on Highway 1 at Wilmot. Following an investigation police arrested and charged a 41-year-old man with assault with a weapon. He will attend court at a later date.
-- Oct. 18 at 8:22 a.m. at Wilmot. A person contacted police to say a neighbor allows his cat and dog to come on his lawn to defecate. This file has been referred to the county bylaw officer for further investigation and follow-up.
-- Oct. 18 at 5:57 p.m. at Waldec. Police received a complaint of unwanted persons on a lawn on the Dunn Road. The report indicated the people may have been fighting. Police patrolled but the ‘combatants’ were gone on arrival.
-- Oct. 19 at 2:21 p.m. at Brickton. Police received a report that there was a cow on the wrong side of the fence at Highway 101. Police were able to contact a local resident who was able to persuade the animal to return to the pasture.
-- Oct. 19 at 3:34 p.m. at Lawrencetown. Police were advised of the potential for a demonstration or protest by animal rights protestors at a cattle auction in Lawrencetown. Police made themselves available in the area but were not needed.
-- Oct. 19 at 6:39 p.m. at Brickton. Police received a 911 call that three cows were on the highway. Police went to the scene and found that the cows were back in their pasture. Police spoke to the person who was able to coral them and secure the fence.
-- Oct. 20 at 10:49 a.m. at Mount Hanley. Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on the Mount Hanley Road. The accident happened at a low rate of speed and there was minor damage to both vehicles. The owners exchanged vehicle information.
-- Oct. 20 at 1:47 p.m. at Tupperville. Police have charged a 72-year-old woman with speeding on Highway 101. If found guilty she will pay a fine of $237.50. Police warned and/or charged 17 other drivers for speeding violations throughout the week.
-- Oct. 20 at 11:51 p.m. at Bridgetown. Police observed a vehicle that entered Highway 101 at Exit 20 and accelerated heading west at a high rate of speed. Police pursued the vehicle that then left the highway at Exit 21 and drove at high speed west on Highway 201. The vehicle was clocked at speeds of 166 kilometres per hour. The officer was able to get a license plate number before the vehicle turned off on a dirt road. Police ended the pursuit for safety concerns. Police contacted the registered owner who had reported the plate lost on Oct. 11.
