MIDDLETON - Annapolis District RCMP didn’t get to slow down leading into the holiday season as the calls kept on coming – 105 between Dec. 11 and Dec. 18.
Police dealt with assault calls, fraud calls, accidents, and the theft of a six-foot snowman.
Following are the highlights from the week:

-- Dec. 11 at 10:40 a.m. at Nictaux. Police received a complaint of a theft where a six-foot snowman and a projection light were taken from a lawn over night. This happened sometime after 11 p.m. the previous evening. Police entered into an investigation and spoke with neighbours.
-- Dec. 12 at 11:26 a.m. at Cornwallis. Police received a report of an unconscious man in the washroom at ValuFoods. Police and EHS attended. The man was taken to hospital in Digby where he was admitted.
-- Dec. 12 at 8:47 p.m. at Meadowvale. Police responded to a report of a domestic dispute. Police went to the scene and as a result of an investigation arrested a 44-year-old man. He was charged with assault and uttering threats. He was released on an undertaking and will appear in court in the new year.
-- Dec. 12 at 8:48 p.m. at Lequille. Police stopped a vehicle for speeding on Highway 101. A 28-year-old man was given a warning. He was charged for operating a motor vehicle without registration. If found guilty he will pay a fine of $295. Police dealt with 24 other speeding violations in the county during the week.
-- Dec. 12 at 9:54 p.m. at Graywood. Police received a report of a domestic assault. Following further investigation police arrested a 27-year-old man. He has been charged with assault, break-and-enter, uttering threats, and failing to comply with a probation order. He was held in custody pending a court appearance.
-- Dec. 13 at 12:13 a.m. at Middleton. Police were called because of an intoxicated woman who had locked herself inside a vehicle and would not let the owner in. Police attended and took a 38-year-old woman into custody. She was charged with public intoxication and was taken to police cells where she was released when sober. She was issued with a protection of property notice to not return to the business where the incident occurred. She was issued a summary offense ticket. She will attend court in February and if found guilty will pay a fine of $134.
-- Dec. 13 at 5:15 p.m. at Upper Clements. Police were called to a single-vehicle rollover on Highway 1. The report came in via an EHS team that drove by shortly after the crash. Roads were icy at the time. Police spoke with the driver who said he lost control of his vehicle on a curve on the road. He spun out and hit the ditch on the opposite side of the road. There were no injuries. Damage was estimated at more than $2,000 and the vehicle had to be towed.
-- Dec. 13 at 5:19 p.m. at Brickton. Police received a report of a motor vehicle crash on Highway 1 in Brickton. The vehicle went off the road in icy conditions. Both the driver and occupant were uninjured. The vehicle was towed out of the ditch.
-- Dec. 13 at 5:51 p.m. at North Williamston. Police received a report of a break-and-enter into a shed that appeared to have happened two to three days previous to the call to police. Missing from the shed are tools. The lock that was on the shed is now missing. The incident is under investigation.
-- Dec. 14 at 11:11 p.m. at Wilmot. Police received a complaint of theft of Christmas lights that occurred sometime overnight. The caller reported that somebody stole three projection lights from their property. The theft is under investigation.
-- Dec. 14 at 5:52 p.m. at Brickton. Police were notified about a fraud that took place over the phone where the complainant received an automated voice message stating they were from the Canadian Revenue Agency and that they owed money. The voice was intimidating. Despite this, the complainant did not provide any personal information or money. They were advised to contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Agency and provided with contact information.
-- Dec. 14 at 5:56 p.m. at Clementsport. Police received a complaint of fraud. The complainant reported receiving a call from the CRA saying that the agency emailed him $600 and he just needed to click on a link. The man recognized it as a scam and did not provide any information or click the link. He was provided with information to contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Agency and the national no-call list.
-- Dec. 14 at 6:32 p.m. at Middleton. A person went to the RCMP detachment to report that his vehicle had been backed into while he was at a business in Middleton. There were no injuries, only property damage. Insurance information had been exchanged.
-- Dec. 15 at 7:01 a.m. at Granville Ferry. Police received a complaint of theft. The caller reported that sometime overnight two lights were cut off a light tower. Police have entered into an investigation and conducted neighbbourhood inquiries.
-- Dec 15 at 3:11 p.m. at Middleton. Police received a report of shots fired. The caller heard nine shots. Police were told this was an ongoing problem and they are not sure who is responsible. The shots were loud and thought to be closed to the town limits.
-- Dec. 16 at 7:33 p.m. at Victoria Vale. Police received a complaint of fraud where the complainant reported receiving pop-ups on her computer. She provided her credit card information in order to get tech support. There was a $421.19 charge for technical support charged to the credit card. She was advised to contact her bank to cancel the credit card so no other purchases can be made.
-- Dec. 17 at 1:52 p.m. at Waldec. Police responded to a 911 domestic. Police went to the residence but the suspect had left the scene. Police are looking to speak with the accused. All attempts to locate the man have been negative.
