A new doctor recruited to the Barrington area will be a familiar face to many.
Dr. Noel Baker, who has completed his residency in Halifax with Dalhousie University, is originally from the Clarks Harbour area, and is a former Barrington High School graduate.
He was the guest speaker at this year’s graduation ceremony at BMHS.
The incoming doctor will soon start registering new patients through a telephone application process at (902) 575-3350 during the following times: Aug. 13, 14, 15 and 18.
Phone lines open at 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. (break at lunch, 12 noon to 1 p.m.) or until 500 patients are registered
Once 500 patients are accepted, the registration process will close and an announcement will be made when patients are being registered again. Prospective patients are asked to have their MSI number, date of birth and current phone number when they call.
First priority will be given to Shelburne County residents who do not currently have a primary health provider (a Family Physician or Nurse Practitioner).
People are being asking to not call with a list of names of friends or extended family members. Dr. Baker is only able to consider a caller’s immediate family members (spouse, parents or children).
The first 500 registered patients will be contacted in the following weeks to schedule an initial meeting with Dr. Baker. During this initial meeting, Dr. Baker will discuss what the practice can offer and review clinic policies. Dr. Baker will attempt to address any medical concerns in the remaining time at this initial meeting but often a follow up appointment will be required.
There will be more upcoming opportunities to become a patient of Dr. Baker. An announcement will be made at that time.
