Two Shelburne County men have been charged after being allegedly being involved in a  race on Highway 103.

Annapolis RCMP has released the name of a Halifax man who was the victim of a fatal motorcycle accident in Wilmot.

Edward Mombourquette, 62, was pronounced dead at the scene. RCMP Constable Sharla Pinkson said that Mombourquette was returning home from the Wharf Rat Rally, travelling east along Highway 1, when his motorcycle veered right and hit a power pole near Gould’s Auto Sales.

At approximately 1:20 p.m., a motorist called 911 to report the accident, which is still under investigation.  Road conditions were not a factor, she said and no other vehicles were involved. An autopsy will be performed
