Hantsport dissolution meetings planned in Kings County

Published on August 10, 2014

A series of public meetings are being planned in August as the dissolution process moves forward in Hantsport. Two of the sessions will be held in Kings County, with an emphasis on what will happen if the community joins Kings.

Stantec Consulting Ltd. will host the meetings as part of a governance study that’s required for the proposed dissolution. The study will help determine arrangements for municipal council representation if Hantsport joins either Kings or West Hants municipalities.

Stantec will complete a report for the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board by Sept. 5.

The meetings in Kings County are scheduled for Aug. 18, from 6:30-8 p.m., at a yet to be determined location, likely in Hants Border or Lockhartville. The session will include a draft boundary proposal with an emphasis on what it would look like if Hantsport joined Kings County.

The second meeting on Aug. 25, which also runs from 6:30-8 p.m., will feature a revised boundary proposal. A location has yet to be determined for the session.

Sessions will also be held Aug. 12 in the Hantsport fire hall, Aug. 19 in West Hants and Aug. 26 in West Hants.

Everyone is welcomed to attend the sessions.
