Three Indian Brook residents arrested on shoplifting charges have made an initial court appearance.
Evangeline Rose Francis, 28, Raven Jewell Peter-Paul, 24, and Andrew Stephen Robinson, 33, are charged with stealing property valued at less than $5,000 from Walmart in New Minas on July 23 and with possessing stolen property exceeding $5,000 in value.
Francis is also charged with failing to comply with her recognizance in New Minas on July 23; stealing property valued at less than $5,000 from the Superstore in New Minas on March 16; and failing to comply with probation in New Minas on March 16.
During a July 24 appearance in Kentville provincial court, Francis consented to being remanded in custody until July 25 for an appearance in Halifax provincial court for a show cause hearing and election and plea. Her matters have also been adjourned to Sept. 15 for a status report.
Peter-Paul was released on an undertaking following the July 24 court appearance in Kentville. She is scheduled to appear again on Sept. 15 for plea.
Robinson was released following the July 24 court appearance on his own $2,000 non-cash recognizance. He is also scheduled to appear on Sept. 15 for plea.
Const. Blair MacMurtery said July 24 that members of Kings District RCMP apprehended an alleged out-of-area shoplifting ring operating in New Minas the previous day. When the two female and one male suspect were arrested, police recovered more than $2,300 in stolen property.
